Javier Del Molino Matamala

Javier Del Molino Matamala is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences and Computer Science (DMI) of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), with a tenure spanning 2004–2011 and resuming in 2023. His academic and research focus lies at the intersection of multimedia technologies and data-driven applications.

His research centers on interactive multimedia, particularly its applications in virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and 360-degree video. Since 2016, he has been affiliated with the Multimedia Information Technologies (TIM) research group at UIB, contributing to projects that resulted in journal publications and international conference presentations. His doctoral thesis, How analytics dashboards contribute to assessing the behavior of virtual reality users from xAPI tracking logs, highlights his focus on user behavior analysis and data visualization in immersive environments.

As an educator, he teaches core and advanced courses, including Programming – Computer Science I for undergraduate programs and Data Visualization and Social Networks Applications for master’s degrees in data analytics and business intelligence. His teaching emphasizes practical computer science and data-driven methodologies.
