Jaume Verd Martorell

Jaume Verd Martorell serves as Full Professor of Electronics at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), affiliated with the School of Industrial Engineering and Construction and Department of Electronic Technology. His academic career spans over two decades with teaching appointments at both UIB and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 2001.

His educational foundation includes a BSc in Telecommunications from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and PhD in Electronics Engineering from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Currently maintaining office F326 in the Mateu Orfila i Rotger Physics building, he teaches core engineering subjects across multiple degree programs.

Dr. Verd's research program focuses on CMOS-MEMS device applications for compact systems-on-chip development, with primary applications in biosensing and chaos-based secure communications. His technical specialties encompass:

• Circuit design methodologies
• Integrated circuit development
• Microelectronics design processes

As an active researcher, he contributes to the Electronic Systems Group (GSE-UIB) and Functional Organic Systems (FOS) Consolidated R+D+I Group, with research covering both design and reliability aspects of integrated systems including radiation effects. His teaching portfolio for 2025-26 includes Electric Machines, Power Electronics, and MEMS Transducers across Automation Engineering and Industrial Engineering programs.
