Jaume Flexas Sans is a Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of the Balearic Islands, holding this position since 2001. He teaches undergraduate and master's courses including Biology, Plant Physiology, and Plant Ecophysiology across multiple academic programs.
He earned his Graduate degree in Biology (1996) and PhD (2000) from the University of the Balearic Islands under Dr. Hipólito Medrano's supervision.
His research focuses on photosynthesis mechanisms, specifically CO2 diffusion pathways, plant responses to environmental stress, and evolutionary adaptations in photosynthetic systems. This work integrates physiological, ecological, and evolutionary approaches to address climate change impacts on plant productivity.
His contributions have been recognized with:
- Sabater National Award (Spanish Society of Plant Physiology, 2005)
- European Young Scientist FESPP Award in Plant Biology (2006)
Professor Flexas Sans actively supervises final degree projects in Biology and leads the PlantEcophys research group while contributing to climate change initiatives through LINCC UIB and PlantAgro collaborations.
