Jassem Alokla is a Senior Lecturer in Finance at Anglia Ruskin University, located in Chelmsford, UK. He is part of the School of Economics, Finance, and Law within the Faculty of Business and Law. His academic journey includes roles at Sussex University Business School (Lecturer, 2021–2023) and the University of Portsmouth (Teaching Fellow, 2015–2021), where he earned his PhD in Economics and Finance (2019) and MSc in Risk Management (2014).
Dr. Alokla holds a BSc in Insurance and an associate degree in Economics & Finance. He is a Chartered Insurer Risk Manager certified by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. His research focuses on Islamic finance (particularly Takaful), corporate finance, insurance dynamics in emerging economies, and stock market responsiveness to global events.
Key research interests include the intersection of Islamic banking/insurance with modern financial systems, corporate governance in insurance firms, and behavioral finance phenomena in Islamic markets. His publications span journals like The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance, Review of Behavioral Finance, and Economies.
