Dr. Jason Steffen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. With a career spanning postdoctoral work at CIERA (2012–2015) and research roles at Fermilab and Northwestern University, he has contributed to over 60 publications in exoplanet science, gravitation, and dark energy. His work focuses on exoplanetary systems, leveraging data from NASA’s Kepler and upcoming TESS missions.
- Education
- B.S. in Physics and Mathematics, Weber State University
- M.S. and Ph.D. in Physics, University of Washington, Seattle
Dr. Steffen's research explores exoplanet formation, dynamics, and composition, including modeling planetary interiors with MAGRATHEA and analyzing Kepler data. His recent projects address Galactic chemical evolution's impact on exoplanets, stability in multiplanet systems, and advancements in time-domain surveys.
He has developed computational tools for REBOUND simulations, investigated dark energy through gravitational wave studies, and even explored aerospace engineering problems like airplane boarding optimization. His work bridges astrophysics with interdisciplinary applications.
