Jason Shachat is a Professor of Experimental Economics at Durham University's Business School since 2014. Previously, he held academic roles at the University of California-San Diego, National University of Singapore, and Xiamen University, alongside research at IBM's TJ Watson Lab. He earned a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Arizona.
His research focuses on experimental economics, behavioral game theory, and behavioral operations management, with notable work on asset markets, auctions, and procurement mechanisms. He has published in top journals like Management Science and Marketing Science. Shachat has supervised numerous doctoral and master's students, many securing academic and industry roles. His recent work examines algorithmic trading impacts, cognitive stress effects on inventory decisions, and cross-cultural cooperation dynamics using experimental methods.
Publications highlight experimental investigations into market efficiency, trust in procurement, and pandemic-driven behavioral changes. He collaborates globally on projects blending experimental economics with real-world applications.
