Dr. Jason R. Jolley is an Associate Dean in the Reynolds College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities at Missouri State University, where he also serves as a Professor of Spanish. He holds a PhD in Spanish from The Pennsylvania State University (2003), an MA and BA in Spanish from Brigham Young University (1997, 1995), and an AA in Journalism from BYU-Idaho (1993).
His teaching focuses on translation, Latin American literature, and language pedagogy. He leads courses such as MCL 310 (Introduction to Translation), SPN 460 (Spanish American Literature), and advanced translation seminars. His research explores machine translation applications in education, self-directed learning strategies, and contemporary Latin American narratives. He maintains a YouTube channel, Professor Jason Spanish and Portuguese, promoting language learning.
Professionally, he has served as Department Head, Co-Director of the Foreign Language Institute, and held leadership roles in organizations like the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) and the American Translators Association (ATA). His 2006 Teaching Award highlights his dedication to pedagogy.
