Jason Grant is the W.G. Wysor Professor of Agriculture and Director of the Center for Agricultural Trade at Virginia Tech’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University (2007), an M.S. from the University of Guelph (2003), and a B.A. from the University of Lethbridge (2000). His research focuses on agricultural trade policy, international development, and the economic impacts of trade policies, with a particular emphasis on regional trade agreements, sanitary/phytosanitary (SPS) measures, and climate adaptation.
Grant’s expertise includes analyzing trade disputes, tariff-rate quotas, and the effects of non-tariff barriers. He leads the Center for Agricultural Trade, which educates students and collaborates with policymakers. Notable awards include the USDA Bruce Gardner Award (2020) and the AAEA’s top Choices article award (2021). He serves as associate editor of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
