Jason Fulman is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Southern California's Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Harvard University (1997) and a B.A. in Mathematics Summa Cum Laude from Harvard (1993).
His research focuses on algebraic combinatorics and probability, with particular emphasis on Stein's method, random matrix theory, and Markov chain theory. His work explores connections between group theory, probability, and combinatorics, often applying probabilistic methods to solve problems in algebraic structures.
Professor Fulman's publication record demonstrates a consistent research trajectory spanning over two decades, with recent work addressing representation theory, derangements in finite groups, tensor product Markov chains, and applications of Stein's method to various probabilistic models. His research shows strong connections between pure mathematics and probabilistic applications.
He has advised numerous doctoral students including J. E. Paguyo (2023), John Rahmani (2021), Aperen Ozdemir (2020), and several others dating back to 2009. His current doctoral students include Dominic Arcona, Alex Clay, Sophie Uluatam, and Ivan Feng.
Professor Fulman teaches courses such as Math 225: Linear Algebra and Differential Equations and organizes the departmental colloquium series that meets weekly in KAP 414.
