Jason Corburn is a Professor at the University of California-Berkeley, affiliated with the Department of City and Regional Planning and School of Public Health. He directs the Institute of Urban and Regional Development and the Center for Global Healthy Cities, and co-directs the joint Master of City Planning (MCP) and Master of Public Health (MPH) degree program.
Education:
- BA from Brandeis University
- PhD and MCP from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Research Interests: Urban health, environmental health, social justice, science-based policy-making, local knowledge, health equity, urban gun violence, climate justice, health-in-all policies, and informal settlements. His work bridges public health and urban planning to address systemic inequities in cities.
Scientific Awards:
- Paul Davidoff Best Book Award (2007) for Street Science: Community Knowledge and Environmental Health Justice
Contributions: Authored influential books on healthy city planning and co-edited works on slum health. He leads action-research projects promoting collaborations between urban residents, scientists, and policymakers to address health disparities and improve urban well-being.
