Jason Cieply is an Assistant Professor of Russian Languages and Literatures at Hamilton College, specializing in early-Soviet and contemporary Russian culture. He teaches courses on 20th- and 21st-century Russian culture and language, with a focus on emotional experiences of revolution.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.A. from Stanford University; B.A. from Kenyon College
His research explores dialectical aesthetics, reception theory, and proletarian culture, with a current book project analyzing experimental narrative forms in Soviet literature. Cieply has also worked at Wellesley College and Williams College.
Publications include studies on Bakhtinian theory, Dostoevsky’s legacy, and Soviet affect-oriented narratives, appearing in journals like Slavic Review and Translit.
