Jason Barlow

Jason Barlow serves as an Assistant Professor of Physics in the Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science within the School of Arts and Sciences at Springfield College. His office is located in Room 106 of the Schoo-Bemis Science Center.

Research Focus

Barlow's work centers on experimental particle physics, specifically hadron spectroscopy and the search for exotic mesons beyond the Standard Model. His research leverages high-energy photon beams to probe quark-gluon interactions, aiming to discover particles that challenge current theoretical frameworks. As an active member of the GlueX Collaboration, he contributes to cutting-edge experiments at Jefferson Lab's Continuous Electron Beam Accelerator Facility.

Teaching Development

Prior to his faculty appointment, Barlow enhanced his pedagogical skills through Florida State University's Program for Instructional Excellence (PIE), where he designed and led workshops for graduate teaching assistants on evidence-based physics instruction methods. He also completed specialized coursework in college-level science pedagogy, focusing on active learning techniques for complex theoretical concepts.

Barlow operates within the GlueX experimental framework, utilizing photoproduction techniques to study meson spectroscopy.
