Jasmine King is a current PhD candidate and Researcher at the School of Molecular Sciences, The University of Western Australia (UWA), where she works on the design, synthesis, and biological screening of small molecule drugs targeting nuclear receptors for cancer treatment. She is supervised by Associate Professor Matthew Piggott and Dr Joost Lesterhuis.
- Bachelor of Science (Chemistry and Pharmacology), The University of Western Australia, 2018–2020
- First Class Honours in Chemistry, The University of Western Australia, 2021
Her research focuses on chemical synthesis and pharmacological evaluation of covalent nuclear receptor modulators, with applications in cancer therapy. She has contributed to two patents and participates in the project A small molecule enhancer of cancer immunotherapy, funded by the Cancer Council WA (2024–2025).
Recent publications include PPARG modulators (2024) and Analogues of MDMA for modulating SERT, DAT, and / or NET activity (2023), reflecting her expertise in medicinal chemistry and molecular targeting.
Scientific Awards
- Raoul Robellaz Kahan Honours Scholarship in Chemistry (2021)
- Barry Marshall and Robin Warren Convocation Postgraduate Travel Award (2024)
Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in education and health innovation. Jasmine also contributes to teaching at UWA.
