Dr. Jarrod Knibbe is a Senior Lecturer in Interaction Design at the University of Queensland's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. His research focuses on novel interactive technologies, particularly in Haptics for Extended Reality, Smart Clothing for Muscle Control, and embodied interaction design. He has published extensively in top venues like CHI, UIST, and ISMAR, with over 40 peer-reviewed articles.
Knibbe's research integrates device engineering, human perception studies, and user experience evaluation. His work spans wearable technologies, VR/AR systems, and embodied learning interfaces. Notable contributions include innovations in electric muscle stimulation calibration, haptic feedback systems, and mixed-reality visualization techniques. He currently serves as an associate editor for CHI, UIST, VR, and ISS.
His recent projects explore location privacy management in mobile devices, embodied collaboration in virtual environments, and the design of shared bodily experiences through electrical muscle stimulation. He actively collaborates with international teams on interdisciplinary HCI challenges, blending technical innovation with human-centered design principles.
