Jarosław Handzlik

Professor Jarosław Handzlik serves in the Department of Organic Chemistry and Technology at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Tadeusz Kościuszko Cracow University of Technology. His academic journey includes an MSc in Chemical Engineering (1993), Dr. Eng in Chemical Technology (1999), DSc in Catalysis and Theoretical Chemistry (2008), and full professorship in Chemical Sciences (2019).

His research centers on computational methods in quantum chemistry, specifically atomic/nanoscale modeling of catalytic systems, characterization of catalytic reaction mechanisms, and molecular modeling of biologically active compounds. This work integrates heterogeneous catalysis, olefin metathesis, and DFT simulations to design advanced catalysts.

He leads the Computational Catalysis and Molecular Modeling team, supervises doctoral/master’s theses, and has secured 14 major research grants since 1997, including EU-funded HPC-Europa projects and Polish National Science Center grants. His international collaborations include three research stays at École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (2006, 2007, 2010).
