Jarmo Hynninen

Jarmo Hynninen is a Lecturer at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, specializing in Pop/Jazz music education since 2008. He holds a Master of Music from Sibelius Academy (2006) and has over three decades of professional experience as a guitarist, spanning roles in bands like Freukkarit, Kirka, and Tapani Kansa, as well as theater, TV, and freelance projects. His teaching focuses on roots blues, country, and rhythm guitar techniques.

Research interests include guitar pedagogy and performance, with publications such as Country Guitar Workshop (1999) and Rhythm & Blues Workshop (2006). His studio features an extensive collection of guitars (27+), amplifiers, and effects pedals, emphasizing brands like Fender, Gibson, and Gretsch. He actively contributes to music magazines like Riff, sharing insights on instrument craftsmanship and music history.

Outside academia, Hynninen combines active performance with music production, releasing solo albums in 2001 and 2012. He is fluent in Finnish, English, Swedish, and basic German. His hobbies include guitar collecting, swimming, and historical studies.
