Jared T. Stanley serves as Associate Professor and Division Chair of the Division of Art and Design within the School of Fine Arts and Communication at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. He lectures on the importance of humanities and arts to Christians in contemporary society while managing the print studio and production facilities at the Sargent Art Building.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Fine Arts from Texas Tech University
- MA in Graphic Design from Bob Jones University
- BS in Graphic Design from Bob Jones University
Dr. Stanley's research bridges multiple disciplines through critical examinations of popular visual culture. His interdisciplinary approach combines grief studies, television studies, and sociology to analyze televisual bereavement and mourning practices at sociological and relational levels. Artistic output spans printmaking, poetry, transmedia installations, and performance art, often drawing connections between personal life experiences and visual sociology.
He has received multiple awards in fine art, graphic design, and photography through international print exchanges. Dr. Stanley currently serves on the steering committee for the Contemporary Print Collective (previously as chair), an organization dedicated to promoting printmaking education in South Carolina's upstate region.
As an educator, he mentors senior graphic design students through live thesis projects, professional ethics scenarios, and presentation development in courses including Advanced Design Studies (GrD 401), Christianity & the Arts (FA 125), and Professional Practices (GrD 410). He also maintains an active freelance graphic design business and exhibits artwork publicly while presenting research at national and international conferences.
