Jared Millson is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Rhodes College, Memphis, TN. He specializes in epistemology, logic, philosophy of language, and philosophy of science, with a focus on inquiry norms, formal methods, and scientific representation. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Emory University (2014) and B.A. degrees in History and Philosophy from Boston University (2005). Prior roles include Visiting Assistant Professor and Chair of Philosophy at Agnes Scott College, and Postdoctoral Fellowships there and at Emory University.
His research explores the norms governing inquiry, formal logic systems for epistemic agents, and the interplay between explanation and scientific representation. He teaches courses on conspiracy theories, philosophy of artificial intelligence, and non-Western epistemology. He co-launched an AI minor at Agnes Scott in partnership with Google.
Notable awards include a 2023 Visiting Fellowship at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (Germany) and Mellon Teaching Fellowships. His work appears in top journals like Philosophical Quarterly, Episteme, and Studia Logica.
Service roles include advising Rhodes’ Phi Sigma Tau and Neuroscience Committee. He has presented globally on topics like erotetic logic and explanatory pluralism, and referees for leading journals including Mind, Philosophy of Science, and Synthese.
