Janpanit Surasin is a Thai Instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a Ph.D. in Continuing and Vocational Education (UW-Madison, 1996), an M.Sc. in Continuing and Vocational Education (UW-Madison, 1991), an M.A. in Applied Linguistics (Mahidol University, 1982), and a B.A. in English (Thammasat University, 1976). Her career spans decades in language education, including roles as a Thai language trainer for the US Peace Corps/Thailand, instructor at Chulalongkorn University Language Institute, and later as a Senior Lecturer and curriculum developer at Burapha University's International Graduate Program in Teaching English as a Global Language.
Her research focuses on language testing, qualitative research in language education, and curriculum development. She contributed to the Thai Reader Project at UW-Madison, creating online reading materials for intermediate Thai learners. She has also taught at the Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute (SEASSI) since 2011. Her professional service includes roles as Deputy Director for Academic Affairs and Research at Chulalongkorn University before her early retirement in 2009.
