Janosch Kleinschnittger

Janosch Kleinschnittger is a Research Fellow at the GIGA Institute for Middle East Studies and a doctoral student at the Institute of Criminology, Faculty of Law, University of Hamburg. He has been actively involved in the Monitoring System and Transfer Platform for Radicalization (MOTRA) project since November 2022 and has served as a research assistant since February 2022. His work bridges criminology, political science, and social psychology, focusing on public attitudes in Germany.

His work often employs survey-based and experimental methodologies to explore societal attitudes in Germany.

The recent publications and reports highlight trends in German public opinion on conscription, military aid for Ukraine, antisemitism, anti-Muslim attitudes, and hostility toward refugees. These studies are part of the MOTRA and MiDInt projects, which use representative surveys and experimental designs to track social and political attitudes over time.

Janosch Kleinschnittger is actively involved in research, teaching, and public dissemination. He has taught an exam course in 'Crime and Crime Control' and has presented findings at international conferences such as the ECPR General Conference 2024. He is part of a multidisciplinary research team including Prof. Dr. Peter Wetzels, Prof. Dr. Thomas Richter, and Dr. Katrin Brettfeld.
