Janosch Hildebrand

Prof. Dr. Janosch Hildebrand serves as a Professor at the Faculty of Applied Natural Sciences and Health (FNG) of Coburg University of Applied Sciences, where he pioneers interdisciplinary research bridging biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and health sciences to develop translational solutions for veterinary diagnostics, dermatology, and public health challenges.

His research program centers on four critical domains:

• Veterinary AI Diagnostics: Leading the XAI_TABS project (2025-2027) to create explainable AI systems that analyze high-throughput pathogen sequencing data and antibiograms for antibiotic optimization in livestock, directly addressing antimicrobial resistance.
• Dermatological Biotechnology: Directing a Beiersdorf AG collaboration (2024-2027) to develop novel topical anti-aging treatments using parabiosis principles, representing a paradigm shift in cosmetic science.
• Cancer Epigenetics: Investigating H2B monoubiquitination's role in epithelial tumor growth through human skin epigenetics research (2018-2019), with implications for early cancer detection.
• Public Health Analytics: Designing evidence-based dehydration measurement tools within the "Measuring Health" initiative (2018-2021) to advance population-level health promotion strategies.

As principal investigator, Dr. Hildebrand secures substantial industry and public funding for high-impact projects, demonstrating exceptional grant leadership. His work in the "Analyzing and Promoting Health" cluster integrates computational modeling with wet-lab experimentation to accelerate real-world health applications.

Within Coburg University, he co-leads the health technology research group alongside Prof. Dr. Stefan Simm and Prof. Dr. Stefan Kalkhof, fostering synergies between AI specialists, dermatologists, and molecular biologists to solve complex biomedical challenges through team-based science.
