Janko Gospocic

Dr. Janko Gospocic serves as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, appointed in 2023 as an Endowed Scholar.

Education:

• M.S. in Molecular Biology from the University of Zagreb
• Ph.D. in Developmental Biology and Genetics from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL)
• Postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania’s Epigenetics Institute

Research Focus: Dr. Gospocic investigates molecular mechanisms linking genetics, epigenetics, and behavior. His doctoral work examined imprinted genes in cardiac development, while his postdoctoral research dissected social transition mechanisms in Harpegnathos saltator ants. Current work in Psychiatry integrates these interests to explore neurobiological foundations of behavioral disorders, emphasizing epigenetic regulation in neural systems. His interdisciplinary approach bridges molecular biology with translational neuroscience.
