معرفی
Dr. Janis Timoshenko is a Professor and Director of the Interface Science group at the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society. His research focuses on operando hard X-ray spectroscopy and machine learning-driven analysis of catalytic processes, particularly for energy-related reactions like CO₂ electroreduction, methanol synthesis, and oxygen evolution. His work emphasizes real-time characterization of catalyst structure-function relationships under working conditions.
Key areas include development of synchrotron-based techniques (XAS, XRD, SAXS), advanced data analysis methods, and nanostructured catalyst design for applications in renewable energy systems. He leads a team of postdocs and PhD students (e.g., Martina Rüscher) and collaborates extensively with institutions like DESY and ALBA Synchrotron.
Recent contributions include the OperandoCat beamline P63 at PETRA III and breakthroughs in understanding catalyst restructuring during electrochemical reactions. His research bridges fundamental materials science with industrial catalysis applications.
