Dr Janie Busby Grant is an Associate Professor in Psychology at the University of Canberra's Faculty of Health, leading the Psychology team at the Collaborative Robotics Lab. Her research focuses on cognitive psychology and human-robot interaction, exploring how humans perceive and interact with robotic systems, including social robots and AI applications. She holds a PhD from the University of Queensland (2005) and dual Bachelor's degrees in Science (2000).
Her work addresses topics such as mental time travel, social presence in HRI, and decolonizing psychology education. Current projects include Next-Gen Robotics collaborations and robotic art installations. She is actively involved in curriculum reform to integrate Indigenous perspectives and enhance graduate employability through industry partnerships.
Recent research highlights include studies on humanoid robot perception, ethical AI education, and the impact of residential schools on Indigenous youth well-being. Dr Busby Grant contributes to interdisciplinary initiatives like the UC Collaborative Robotics Lab, emphasizing participatory design and real-world applications.
