Janice Kan

Dr. Janice Kan is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Dental School, The University of Western Australia, and an adjunct Senior Lecturer at the University of Melbourne. She is an Australian board-certified prosthodontist with a focus on reconstructive, aesthetic, and implant dentistry, specializing in worn dentition, dental implant reconstructions, and complex multidisciplinary cases.

• Education: Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) from The University of Western Australia (2001), Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) from the University of Melbourne (2010).

Her research interests span dental implant biomechanics, bone strain analysis, and evidence-based prosthodontic treatments. She has published in journals like Clinical Oral Implants Research and contributed to clinical textbooks, including the ITI Treatment Guide.

Dr. Kan has received the Wyn Needham Memorial Prize for academic excellence and holds fellowships in the International Team of Implantology (ITI), Academy of Dentistry International (ADI), and the International College of Dentists (ICD). She actively lectures and examines in prosthodontics and is a registered speaker for the ITI.

She founded the Centre for Prosthodontics and Centre for Prosthodontics Education, providing continuing professional development. Her current work involves a future PhD proposal on wireless strain gauges for implant dentistry, building on prior interdisciplinary collaborations with institutions like the Melbourne Dental School and Melbourne Materials Institute.
