Dr. Janice Chambers is a Professor and William L. Giles Distinguished Professor/Director at the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine (MSU CVM). Her research focuses on toxicology, environmental health, and neuroscience, particularly the effects of organophosphates and organochlorines on neurological and metabolic systems.
- Education
- Ph.D., Animal Physiology, Mississippi State University (1973)
- B.S., Biology, University of San Francisco (1969)
Her work spans biochemistry, pharmacology, and public health, with publications on pesticide toxicity, enzyme kinetics, and environmental risk factors for diseases like type 2 diabetes and atherosclerosis. Recent studies involve oxime reactivators for nerve agent poisoning and inflammatory responses to environmental toxins.
Dr. Chambers has presented at major conferences like the Society of Toxicology and Medical Defense Bioscience Review. Her laboratory at MSU CVM investigates organophosphate toxicity, cholinesterase inhibition, and neuroprotective agents.
