Dr. Janice A. Black is an Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship at Western Carolina University's School of Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Sport Management, and Hospitality and Tourism Management. She holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Texas Tech University and has over 20 years of experience in management and entrepreneurship. Her research focuses on entrepreneurial leadership, organizational learning, and innovative pedagogy, with over 2,200 citations. She emphasizes experiential learning and has been recognized for supporting international students during the pandemic.
Education: Ph.D. in Business Administration (Texas Tech), Ed.S. in Learning Technologies (New Mexico State), MBA (Sonoma State), and dual bachelor’s degrees in Communication Studies and Business (Cal State Sacramento). Teaching interests include entrepreneurial mindsets, innovation, leadership, and strategic coherence.
Research Interests: Dr. Black explores entrepreneurial leadership, intrapreneurial practices, and the development of organizational learning environments. She also investigates strategies to teach entrepreneurship effectively and adapt to crises like the pandemic. Her work spans small businesses to large institutions like hospitals and banks.
