Janette Meyer is an Adjunct Professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Engineering. She is affiliated with the LaSIR Laboratory for Systems Integrity & Reliability, a multidisciplinary research facility focused on advancing technologies for risk assessment, predictive analytics, and smart manufacturing. Her work emphasizes the development of in-line diagnostic systems for quality control in advanced materials (e.g., lithium battery electrodes) and structural health monitoring for energy infrastructure, such as nuclear power plants and wind turbines. Meyer contributes to innovations like thermal imaging for flaw detection in manufacturing processes and cyber-physical systems for adaptive wind turbine control.
Research interests include integrating sensing technologies with computational modeling to enhance system reliability and cost efficiency. She collaborates with industry and national laboratories, such as Idaho National Laboratory, to translate academic discoveries into practical solutions. The LaSIR Lab, under her involvement, trains over 130 graduate students and 42 undergraduates in experimental methodologies and large-scale testing, including projects on energy storage, composite materials, and infrastructure resilience.
