Dr. Janet Lui is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine at Queen's University, cross-appointed to the Department of Oncology. She serves as the Adult Hematology Residency Program Director since 2019 and maintains a clinical practice in General Hematology at Kingston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital, and the Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario. Her academic focus centers on medical education, having completed a Certificate of Health Professions Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been recognized for her clinical teaching excellence with the Queen's University Internal Medicine Sub-specialty Teaching Award (2016 and 2021).
Dr. Lui's education includes a B.Sc. (Hons) in Cellular, Molecular, and Microbial Biology from the University of Calgary, followed by medical studies and Core Internal Medicine training at the University of Alberta. She completed her Hematology fellowship at the University of Ottawa.
Her research interests bridge medical education and clinical hematology/oncology, emphasizing evidence-based practices and healthcare provider training. Key projects include implementation science studies on HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Colombia and evaluation of serological assays for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in healthcare workers.
Dr. Lui’s recent work highlights contributions to infectious disease epidemiology, HIV prevention strategies, and healthcare workforce immunity studies. Her articles explore topics ranging from Omicron wave impacts on healthcare workers to barriers in PrEP uptake among transgender communities in Colombia.
