Janet Lensing serves as State Survey Coordinator and Instructor in the Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky's Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment. She has taught ENT 110, Insect Biology, to non-science majors since fall 2008.
Her professional background bridges academic instruction with regulatory entomology practice. As State Survey Coordinator, she works with USDA to coordinate invasive pest detection programs across Kentucky.

Dr. Lensing also conducts nursery inspections and certifies plant products for international export, ensuring compliance with phytosanitary regulations. Her work extends beyond insects to include plant diseases, weeds, and nematodes.
She earned her Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Kentucky in 2006 under Dr. David Wise, following a B.A. in Biology (magna cum laude) from Hendrix College in 1998.
