Janelle F. Doughty is an Associate Professor of the Practice of Social Work and Program Director of the Four Corners MSW Program at the University of Denver’s Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW). She is an enrolled member of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and Navajo (Red Running into the Water Clan). Her career combines academic leadership with extensive tribal and civil rights advocacy roles.
- Education: MSW from University of Denver (2004), BSW from New Mexico Highlands University.
Research interests focus on tribal justice systems, civil rights advocacy, and community partnerships. Her leadership spans over a decade in tribal governance, including roles as the Southern Ute Indian Tribe’s Crime Victim’s Advocate, Executive Officer of Justice & Regulatory, and Director of the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe’s Social Services Department. She was appointed to the Colorado Commission on Civil Rights by Governor Bill Ritter (2009). As Program Director, she oversees educational coordination, staff supervision, field programs, and tribal/community partnerships for the Four Corners MSW Program.
