Janel Zoske

Janel Zoske is a Researcher at the Institute of English Philology (WE6), Freie Universität Berlin, under the Chair of Linguistics led by Prof. Ferdinand von Mengden. She is actively involved in the DFG-funded project "Variational Pragmatics of German: A Comparison of Communicative Patterns", collaborating with scholars from Bielefeld, Zurich, Salzburg, and Berlin.

• Education: MA in Linguistics (2022, Freie Universität Berlin); BA in English and German Philology (2021, Freie Universität Berlin).
• Research Focus: Variational pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and language change, with a particular emphasis on address practices, politeness strategies, and regional variation in German-speaking regions.
• Teaching: Instructs seminars on English linguistics, introduction to linguistics, and historical language change.
• Conferences: Regularly presents at international workshops including INAR, ICLaVE, and the Linguistik Meetup Berlin Brandenburg.
• Current Projects: Doctoral research on "Social Management through Forms of Address" and contributions to methodological frameworks in variational pragmatics.
