Jane Setter

Professor Jane Setter is a Professor of Phonetics at the University of Reading, School of Literature and Languages. She holds roles including School Director of Academic Tutoring, Departmental Admissions Officer, and TEF Lead. Her research focuses on phonetics, prosody, and pronunciation in World Englishes, with notable work on Hong Kong English, Williams syndrome speech, and bilingual speech rhythms. She co-edits the Cambridge English Pronouncing Dictionary and authored Your Voice Speaks Volumes, exploring sociolinguistic aspects of voice perception.
