Jane Newland is an Associate Professor in French and Chair of the Department of Languages and Literatures at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Arts in Waterloo, Ontario. She holds a PhD from the University of Southampton (UK) and contributes to critical theory, children's literature studies, and French intellectual history.

Her research focuses on 20th-century French thought and Gilles Deleuze's influence on literary analysis, particularly in examining temporalities, rhizomatic structures, and philosophical frameworks within French and European children's literature.
