Jane Kirby is a Clinical Professor of Medical Education at the School of Medicine, University of Leeds, and a practising GP in North Yorkshire. Currently on secondment at The Open University, she focuses on leveraging technology-enhanced learning to expand medical education capacity and transform clinical teaching.

Professor Kirby's research pioneers digital innovation in medical education, emphasizing technology-driven solutions for clinical training. She leads the Virtual Clinical Experiences project—a novel platform enabling remote student participation in live patient consultations—and spearheads the Virtual Primary Care (VPC) initiative, which provides 150 authentic primary care consultations for undergraduate education across 30+ UK and Irish medical schools. Her work integrates personalized adaptive learning systems and examines education's role in developing the future clinical workforce, particularly in primary care.
