Jane Humphries

Professor Jane Humphries is a Centennial Professor at the Department of Economic History, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is also a Fellow of All Souls College. Her research focuses on labour markets, industrialization, family-economy interactions, and the history of women’s work. She has authored seminal works such as *Childhood and Child Labour in the British Industrial Revolution* (2011), which won the Gyorgi Ranki Prize and formed the basis of a BBC documentary.

Her expertise spans economic history, growth and development, gender studies, and structural economic change. Notable contributions include analyses of child labour dynamics, gendered labour participation, and the interplay between family structures and economic systems.
