Jane Cooley Fruehwirth is an Associate Professor in Economics at the University of North Carolina. Her research focuses on social economics, education economics, and the intersection of religiosity with adolescent mental health. She previously held positions as a Reader at the University of Cambridge (and a fellow of Christ's College) and as an Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin.
- Education: B.A. with High Honors (Magna Cum Laude) from The College of William and Mary (2000), Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University (2006)
Her work explores how social factors, particularly religious affiliation, influence economic outcomes and mental health in educational contexts. Jane is affiliated with the Inequality: Measurement, Interpretation, and Policy (MIP) network.
