Jane Caffrey

Jane Caffrey is a Distinguished University Professor at the University of West Florida's Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation. She holds a PhD in Marine Environmental and Estuarine Studies from the University of Maryland.

Her research investigates estuarine nutrient cycling, particularly nitrogen transformations in coastal sediments. Current projects examine seagrass restoration in Pensacola Bay watershed and metabolic processes in National Estuarine Research Reserve systems.

Dr. Caffrey's field studies measure porewater nutrients, light attenuation, and chlorophyll concentrations to assess seagrass ecosystem health. She teaches courses in Estuarine Ecology and Aquatic Botany.
