Prof. Jana Wolf holds a professorship at the Freie Universität Berlin and leads the Mathematical Modelling of Cellular Processes Lab at the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC). Her research focuses on developing mathematical models of signaling pathways and gene-regulatory networks in cancer and developmental biology, emphasizing disease mechanisms and patient-specific therapies. She collaborates extensively with experimental and clinical partners to integrate multi-omics data and identify drug targets.
Her work explores oncogene effects, metabolic pathways, and cellular decision-making, with recent studies on tumor immunology and lineage plasticity. She has advised over 20 students, including PhD candidates such as Zsofia Bujtar and Sina Gloeckner. Her lab’s computational tools, like PEDL+, enhance protein- and chemical-relation extraction from biomedical data.
Key collaborations include the MDC’s Molecular Processes and Therapies division, leveraging systems biology approaches to study gene expression regulation and signal transduction. Her research bridges theoretical models with clinical applications, aiming to translate findings into precision medicine strategies.
