Dr. Jan Tattko is a researcher at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen within the Faculty of Humanities, Department of Ancient Studies and Art History. He earned his PhD in Egyptology in 2018 from Tübingen University, focusing on the door inscriptions of the Dendara Temple, and holds a Magister Artium in Egyptology, Greek Studies, and Ancient History.

His research focuses on Egyptian temple inscriptions, anthropoid sarcophagi, Egyptian reception in antiquity, and theology of Greco-Roman temples. His publications span temple hydrology, doorway inscriptions, and sarcophagus studies. He has contributed to catalogues on Ptolemaic sarcophagi in the Grand Egyptian Museum.
Recent publications highlight his expertise in late Egyptian temple architecture and cultural syncretism in Greco-Roman Egypt. He received the Promotionspreis der Philosophischen Fakultät for his dissertation. His collaborative work includes projects with Christian Leitz and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.

Jan Tattko has participated in five excavation campaigns in Egypt and contributed to DFG-funded projects. He is involved in the Hapi and Nilflut conceptualization project (2022–present) and has collaborated on temple inscription studies with the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences.
