Dr. Jan Sändig is a political scientist specializing in protest movements, resistance, and political violence in Africa. After completing his political science studies at the University of Potsdam (2004–2009), he earned a doctorate in peace and conflict studies from the University of Tübingen. Currently a research associate at the University of Bayreuth, he investigates local resistance to extractive industries in Africa through the ERC project INFRAGLOB. His work spans field research in crisis zones like Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He has conducted research trips to Senegal, Cameroon, Nigeria, Liberia, Guinea, and the DRC, analyzing how governance and development intersect with local resistance to external exploitation.
