معرفی
Jan Philipp Jung is an infection biologist leading a research group on host-pathogen interactions and microbial adhesion at Saarland University's Institute for Medical Microbiology and Hygiene since 2021. He holds a Dr. rer. nat. in medical microbiology (2017) and studied biotechnology at Kaiserslautern University. His work focuses on biophysical mechanisms of microbial adhesion to biotic and abiotic surfaces, utilizing atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques like single-cell force spectroscopy and elasticity mapping. Key research topics include Giardia duodenalis adhesion mechanisms, Staphylococcus aureus colonization of medical devices, and Candida albicans interactions with tooth enamel. He collaborates in the Collaborative Research Center 1027 and the SPP 2332 PoP consortium. His group investigates diverse pathogens (bacteria, fungi, protists) and develops data-driven models for 'virtual parasites.'
- Education: PhD in Medical Microbiology (Saarland University, 2017); MSc Biotechnology & Bioprocess Engineering (Kaiserslautern University)
- Research Focus: Adhesion biophysics, host-pathogen interfaces, AFM-based techniques
Publications span microbial adhesion quantification, SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics, and cancer-cell functionality. His lab (Jung Group) emphasizes translational insights into infection biology and biomedical applications.
