معرفی
Prof. Jan Petersen is a Professor of Crop and Crop Production at Bingen University of Applied Sciences since 2004. He holds a Dr. sc. Agr. from the University of Hohenheim (1999) and has extensive professional experience in phytomedicine, sugar beet research, and herbicide management. His work focuses on weed management strategies, herbicide resistance in crops like sugar beet and cereals, and integrated pest management systems.
Education:
- Studies in Agricultural Biology, University of Hohenheim (1991-1996)
- Postgraduate studies in Phytomedicine, University of Hohenheim (1996-1999)
- Doctorate (Dr. sc. Agr.), University of Hohenheim (1999)
Research Interests:
Prof. Petersen's research emphasizes herbicide resistance dynamics, weed ecology, and sustainable crop production. He has pioneered studies on blackgrass (Alopecurus myosuroides) and windgrass (Apera spica-venti) resistance mechanisms, as well as the integration of herbicide-tolerant crops into cropping systems. His work bridges agronomic practices with molecular biology, exploring genetic resistance factors and crop-weed interactions.
Projects & Grants:
- Leading research on ALS-inhibitor resistance in cereals (OPTIHERB project)
- Development of resistance diagnostic tools for farmers
- Exploration of alternative crops like camelina and abutilon for bioenergy
Labs/Teams: Collaborates closely with the Julius-Kühn-Institut and Martin-Luther-Universität Halle on herbicide resistance projects. Advises PhD students in weed science and agricultural sustainability.
