Jan Kreutz is a Researcher at the University of Flensburg's Department of History and History Didactics, affiliated with the Research Center for Regional Contemporary History and Public History (FRZPH). His work focuses on Nazi perpetrator research, Holocaust studies, and colonial economic policies. He holds a doctorate from Hamburg University (2022) with a thesis on Erich von dem Bach-Zelewski's biography of violence.

Research interests include tax policies in German colonies (1884–1914), Nazi mass crimes documentation, and use of autobiographical sources in historiography. He co-curated exhibitions on Sinti/Roma history and has published on Holocaust-related topics in journals like Einsicht and Netz und Werk.
His current project examines colonial tax and budget policies through comparative analysis. He teaches courses like 'Ego documents and personal testimonies as sources for Holocaust research' at Flensburg.
