Professor Jan Jedrzejewski is a full-time Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Ulster University's School of Arts & Humanities, based at the Coleraine campus. Educated at the University of Łódź (MA, English Philology, 1985) and the University of Oxford (DPhil on Thomas Hardy, 1992), he joined Ulster in 1993 as a Lecturer, rising to Professor in 2007. He has held key administrative roles including Dean of the Faculty of Arts (2014–2017) and Head of the School of English and History (2009–2014).
His research centers on 19th-century English literature, specializing in the Victorian novel, and comparative literature with emphasis on Anglo-Polish literary relations and European literary history. His publications critically examine themes of religion, identity, and cultural exchange in Victorian and Irish contexts.
Recent scholarly trends reflect his focus on European literary synthesis and identity politics, including co-editing the comprehensive Lettres européennes: Histoire de la littérature européenne (2021), which maps continental literary traditions.

Academic Leadership
