Jan Jager

Dr. Jan Jager is a Professor of Circular Plastics and Sustainable Plastics at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences. His work focuses on transitioning from a linear economy to a circular one through innovations in bio-based plastics, recycling, and upcycling. He collaborates closely with industry partners to bridge applied research and practical implementation, emphasizing job creation and sustainable technological advancements.

Education:

• Doctorate in Organic Chemistry (with a minor in Polymer Chemistry) from the University of Groningen (1983)

His research explores how hydrophobic microdomains in polymers influence chemical reactions, with patented developments in polymer properties for technical applications. He co-founded the API Institute for applied polymer research and integrates his industry experience into education through curriculum design and minors.
