Jan Hoffmann is an Honorary Professor in Neurology at King's College London, affiliated with the School of Neuroscience and the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN). He is also part of the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre and the Wolfson Sensory, Pain and Regeneration Centre. His research focuses on molecular and neurophysiological mechanisms of primary headache and facial pain disorders, with a translational approach across experimental and clinical settings. He has authored numerous papers, treatment guidelines, and book chapters, and serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Headache and Pain.
Research interests include migraine, cluster headache, and idiopathic intracranial hypertension, with a particular emphasis on neurovascular mechanisms, pharmacological interventions, and clinical guidelines. Collaborations include work with leading institutions like the University of Copenhagen and University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf.
Key contributions include developing evidence-based guidelines for migraine treatment and exploring novel therapeutic targets such as the PAC1 receptor and amylin signaling. His work contributes to Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being, especially through advancing headache disorder management.
