معرفی
Prof. Jan G. Korvink serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Micro and Nano Engineering at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), with concurrent roles as Visiting Professor at the University of Virginia since 2010 and former Professor of Microsystems Engineering at the University of Freiburg (1997-2014).
Education
- M.Sc. in Computational Mechanics, University of Cape Town, 1987
- Ph.D. in Applied Computer Science, ETH Zurich, 1993
Research Interests
His work centers on Ultra Low Cost Micromanufacturing techniques, Microsystems for Magnetic Resonance Imaging applications, and computational Design and Simulation of Micro and Nanosystems. Research emphasizes practical implementation in microsystems engineering and nanotechnology, targeting cost-effective fabrication and cross-disciplinary integration with medical imaging.
Professional Leadership
As founding editor of "Advanced Micro and Nano Systems," curatory board member of Fraunhofer IPM (voting member of Fraunhofer Society), and Research Advisory Panel member for South Africa's CSIR, he influences global research policy. Additional roles include steering committee membership in NAMIS, ASME affiliation, and Design Society participation.
Laboratory Contributions
Established the MEMS Modelling Group at ETH Zurich and directed the Laboratory for Microsystem Simulation at Freiburg. His FRIAS School of Soft Matter Research fellowship (2007-2014) facilitated international collaborations with Japanese institutions including Ritsumeikan University and Kyoto University.
