Jan Engelhardt

Dr. Jan Engelhardt is a Lecturer and Postdoc Researcher at the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Theoretical Biology, University of Vienna. His research focuses on evolutionary biology, particularly the evolution of gene regulatory mechanisms in animals with emphasis on epigenetic modifications. He studies factors influencing evolvability of regulatory mechanisms and their interactions using computational analysis of omics data including single-cell, transcriptomics, and genomics.

His work involves both computational analysis and occasional data generation through novel sequencing techniques. Engelhardt's research contributes to understanding fundamental processes in evolutionary development and gene expression regulation across species.
