Jan-Egbert Sturm is a Full Professor of Applied Macroeconomics at the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zürich and serves as Director of the KOF Swiss Economic Institute. He holds a doctorate from the University of Groningen and has held academic leadership roles at institutions including the University of Munich and University of Konstanz.
His research focuses on macroeconomics, monetary economics, and political economy, with recent work analyzing:
- Central bank independence and income inequality
- Geopolitical risks in European economies
- Corruption's impact on global inequality
- Fiscal policy dynamics in the European Monetary Union
He has published extensively in journals such as The Journal of Economic Inequality, European Journal of Political Economy, and Journal of Public Economics.
